All is well on board. The wind has thus picked up to 20-25 knots from the South-Southwest. I must say that I couldn’t have dreamt of better conditions, the wind and the sea were quite pleasant even if it does move a little inside. The only thing is, that it is still cold. The sea temperature rose to 7° but it’s not much yet. The only thing that is really missing is the sun, it appeared briefly for a couple of minutes two or three times today, but it was too brief to warm us a little.
However, the spectacle of the open ocean and these Southern seas is grandiose, especially when a huge albatross passes by and glides above the waves majestically. I cannot stop admiring the beauty of the ocean and the waves.
We advanced quite well today, although towards the end of the afternoon the wind diminished somewhat and we lost a knot of speed.
Tomorrow at around 10 am (13h UTC) the wind should start to increase to reach 30 knots in the afternoon but we have built up enough reserve to the West, we will be able to bear away and take the wind more from the back and thus reduce the forces on the boat. We shall pass cape Horn tomorrow around 2 pm (17h UTC).
We already contacted a rigger from Buenos Aires to organize basic repair in Ushuaia and a complete one in Buenos Aires. He will be on board Monday to organize the work and check everything.

Tout va bien à bord. Le vent est donc bien arrivé du Sud Sud-Ouest a 20-25 noeuds. Je dois dire que je ne pouvais rêver de meilleures conditions, le vent, la mer était très agréable même si ça bouge un peu à l’intérieur. Par contre, il fait encore froid. La température de l’eau est montée à 7° mais ce n’est pas encore beaucoup. Ce qui manque c’est un peu de soleil, il est apparu deux ou trois fois qq minutes mais trop peu que pour chauffer un peu.
Le spectacle de l’océan et de ces mers du Sud est quand même grandiose, particulièrement quand un immense albatros passe et glisse au dessus des vagues avec majesté. Je ne me lasse pas de voir l’océan et les vagues.
On a bien avancé aujourd’hui. En fin d’après-midi le vent a baissé un peu, on a avancé environ un noeud de moins que pendant la journée.
Demain matin vers 10h (13h UTC) le vent devrait monter à 30 noeuds mais on a pris assez de réserve vers l’Ouest, on pourra abattre pour prendre le vent plus de l’arrière et donc diminuer les efforts sur le bateau. Nous passerons le cap Horn demain vers 14h (17h UTC).
On a déjà contacté un gréeur de Buenos Aires pour organiser la réparation sommaire à Ushuaia et complète à Buenos Aires. Il sera là lundi pour diriger le travail et faire une vérification complète.
