We arrived yesterday at the Ilha do Papagayo, a little paradise with a small hotel. The owner, Renato, is the one of the friendliest guy and the nicest soul I have ever met! We anchored here, with my cousin Andrew, exactly ten years ago and not a year has gone by without thinking that I would like to come back to this place.  The hotel has expanded to 24 bungalows from the 12 ten years ago, but this private island has still kept its charm and its warmth intact. In large thanks to the owner and his children who help out in the management.

We cannot stay long unfortunately as the winds are favourable for a departure today, Wednesday January 22nd. There is a good wind forecast from the Northeast between 15 and 20 knots and I want to take full advantage of it. Plus, on Saturday afternoon, in the arrival zone, the wind will turn to the South, thus against. I want to arrive before. There is 500 miles to La Paloma, in Uruguay, it should take us 2 days and 14 hours. If the wind and the waves remain favourable, we might gain an hour or two. 

The sky is overcast today, it even rained a bit, so it eases our departure a bit.

Our arrival in La Paloma should be for Friday late night.

Nous sommes arrives à l’ile de Papagayo, un petit paradis avec un petit hotel. Le propriétaire, Renato, est des hommes les plus gentils avec une belle âme que je connaisse. Nous nous étions arrêté ici il y a 10 ans exactement avec mon cousin Andrew et pas une année s’est écoulée sans que je ne pense à revenir à cet endroit simple mais tellement attachant. La poussada, s’est étendue en passant de 12 à 24 bungalows en dix ans mais cette île privée à garder tout son charme. En grande partie grâce à son propriétaire et ses enfants qui l’assiste dans la gestion.

Nous ne pouvons rester longtemps malheureusement car les vents sont favorables à un départ aujourd’hui, mercredi 22 janvier. Philippe m’a annoncé un bon vent d’Est-Nord-Est entre 15 et 20 nœuds. Je voudrais en profiter. D’autant plus qu’à l’arrivée, à partir de samedi après-midi, le vent va tourner vers le Sud et être contre. Je voudrais arriver avant.

Il y a 500 milles pour La Paloma, notre port d’entrée en Uruguay. Cela devrait nous mettre 2 jours et 14 heures. Peux être que nous pourrons gagner une heure ou deux si les vents et la mer sont favorables.

Il fait couvert ce matin et il a même plu un petit peu. Cela adoucit un peu la tristesse de devoir partir.

Notre arrivée est prévue vendredi 25 janvier dans le courant de la nuit.
